Second Quarter, 1996
I am very pleased to report that my analysis of the current market from my earlier newsletter is right on the bull's eye: "I expect the market to continue to be strong during the coming months . . . It appears the worst times are behind us." (My 1996 First Quarter Market Update)
In fact, looking at the statistics for the first half of 1996, the market has continued to be strong. Sales activity for all areas of Santa Barbara (Santa Barbara, Montecito, Goleta, and Carpinteria) is up 30% over the first half of 1995. The strongest segments of the market have been Goleta and Montecito.
Montecito sales are up 55% compared with the first half of 1995. Goleta sales are up 87%. Santa Barbara sales are up 13%. Carpinteria sales are down 6%; however activity for 3 of the last 4 months in Carpinteria has increased compared to 1995, so hopefully it will continue to improve.
